Lobos Activos Garden Rotations

Lobos Activos is a SIPAT supported enrichment program that provides social-emotional learning and additional physical and outdoor education to students in grades 1-6. Each grade participates in Lobos Activos 6 times over the course of the year. In addition to the wonderful enrichment this program provides to our students, Lobos Activos also offers grade-level teachers with an additional planning hour to coordinate grade level activities and curricula.

This program takes place during the school day on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1PM-2:30PM and relies heavily on parent volunteers.

Tuesday or Thursday Garden Lesson Coordinator
SIPAT is in URGENT need of a parent or community member (with a DJUSD Sub Credential) who is willing to lead the garden rotation for Lobos Activos on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. This position is accompanied by a stipend. Additionally, we have team members to support you with curriculum and lessons.

Garden Work Party and Kick-Off Planning Meeting
The Environmental Enrichment Program (EEP) is hosting a kick-off meeting and first garden work party - families and kids are invited! These are fun weekend morning events and we'll have snacks and coffee. Get your hands dirty in our gardens! EEP manages the green spaces of our school: raised beds, trees, and plantings. This will be a special year as we work to make our campus a friendly habitat for monarch butterflies! No experience or equipment necessary! Come for all or part of the morning; at 11 am on this first meeting we will transition from working in the gardens to discussing plans for the year. An rsvp is appreciated, but not required. **If volunteers are able to bring the following, it would be helpful--but please feel free to show up with none of these! * Wheelbarrows for moving mulch and compost around * Large totes and buckets (for storing and moving compost) * Shovels for moving compost/mulch and for digging out weeds * Hand clippers (for vines) * Loppers for small tree branches *
